Newport Paper's MRF

Now operational, Newport Paper's new Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) is located near Thetford, Norfolk.

Initially, it will have the annual capacity to recycle 60,000 tonnes of co-mingled material.   This capacity should increase to 75,000 tonnes by 2008 and is designed to divert as much waste as possible away from landfill and into re-processors and manufacturing.

OUR MRF

With a projected recovery rate of over 97% the advantage of this new generation MRF is that it can take almost any mix of recyclables.

The new MRF facility includes a bag splitter, sorting cabins, trommel, overband magnet and baling facilities and is designed to separate co-mingled materials such as newspapers, magazines, cardboard, Yellow Pages, junk mail, grey board, all plastics, aluminium and steel cans into their constituent parts in order that they can be recycled by preprocessors.

The MRF is 100% owned by Newport Paper and will be operated by Freedom Recycling.

For Local Authorities and Waste Management Companies the benefits of MRF processing are:

> minimises recyclables collection costs
> maximises recovery rates
> allows easier budget management
> one material specification to meet
> guaranteed long-term markets for materials

All of this provides the best guarantee of achieving targets and making recycling sustainable for the long-term future.
